The Caroni Bird Sanctuary is an area of 15,000 acres of marshland, tidal lagoon and mangrove trees. Many schools, bird watchers and tourists visit to explore the dense vegetation and fauna.

A cruise along the canal takes you through the swamp. There are many species of fish, birds, snakes and even caiman to discover. A major attraction is seeing the return of the Scarlet Ibis at sunset.

Guides are stationed at the entrance on Felicity Road and kayaks are also available.
