If you reach the Queen’s Park Savannah early on Saturday mornings, you’ll spot them long before you enter the NAMDEVCO market.
The familiar mix of joggers, coconut vendors and the bright spread of tents you just can’t miss, even if you tried. As any seasoned marketgoer would tell you: this isn’t just a place to buy produce.
This is a whole vibe.
A movement. A new social ritual shaping communities across Trinidad & Tobago.
From the moment you pull into the parking area, the energy hits you. Drivers patiently (alright maybe sometimes impatiently) inch into guided parking spaces. By the time you step out, you’re already part of a lively, bustling scene of farmers, foodies, fitness lovers, bargain hunters, and limers who simply come to soak up the scene.
And what a scene it is!

Under the iconic tents, colour bursts in every direction. Piles of shiny ochro, heaps of fresh dasheen, bags of bodi so long they look like they’re still growing, and greens that feel so lush between your fingers.
Soon, you will discover that chatting with vendors calls for strategy - a little bartering here, a little sampling there. You ask who have the sweetest pawpaw, and three people answer at once. Pick up one to inspect and the vendor, with the straightest face says, “Dah one sweet and nice!”
But NAMDEVCO markets have evolved far beyond the sweet produce. Today, you’ll find cold-pressed juices, açai bowls, cassava waffles, artisanal cocoa, gourmet pepper sauces, and smoothies blended on the spot. The younger crowd line up for beet-ginger shots, while children run around with watermelon slices. Someone is selling local wine. Someone else is advertising microgreens.

The market really and truly feels alive.
This alive market isn’t limited to the Savannah. From Point Fortin to Macoya, and straight up to Diego Martin, community markets are creating vibrant spaces where wellness, local business, and a good ‘ole Trini lime’ meet in the middle.

You can buy your bhaji and sweet peppers for the week, but you also buss a little lime, laugh, taste, compare prices, and discover something new every time.

Because across all nine NAMDEVCO markets, there something for everyone.
And if you haven’t visited one yet, don’t miss the sweet market vibes mashing up the island.
As if Trinidad & Tobago wasn’t already sweet enough!
